About Fasenra Injection

Fasenra Injection works by targeting and reducing the number of eosinophils (a type of white blood cell) in the body. It blocks a specific protein called IL-5, which is responsible for the growth and survival of eosinophils. By reducing these cells, the medicine helps decrease airway inflammation, leading to fewer asthma attacks and better overall breathing.

Fasenra Injection is given as an injection under the skin (subcutaneous injection), typically administered by a doctor or a nurse. The initial dosing schedule involves one injection every 4 weeks for the first three doses, followed by one injection every 8 weeks thereafter.

For maximum benefits, stick to your treatment schedule. Missing doses may reduce its effectiveness in controlling asthma symptoms. At the same time, continue using your other asthma medications, such as inhalers, as prescribed by your doctor.

The most common side effects of Fasenra Injection are headache and pharyngitis (sore throat). They often go away on their own, however, if they persist or worsen, consult your doctor. Severe allergic reactions, though rare, may occur. Seek immediate medical help if you experience symptoms like rash, swelling, or difficulty breathing.
